John Morritt
John Morritt is the author of Black Cockles and Nine Lives, fast paced, compelling, contemporary crime novels.
Born and brought up in Essex, John Morritt now lives and writes in Hertfordshire, where he has lived since 2003 with his wife Jane and ageing golden retriever, Connor.
After college, where he studied Business Studies, John joined the Royal Air Force communications wing in 1983. John left the Royal Air Force in 1990 after spending the majority of his seven years in mobile communications, putting up radio masts in the driving rain in some of the bleakest, miserable spots imaginable in the UK and Northern Europe.
After sixteen years in various operational roles at one of the UK biggest telecommunications companies, John joined one of the world’s largest business data providers, where he still works as the Head of Provisioning.
John’s first novel Black Cockles was released in May 2010 – the result of a gin fuelled bet with his father. Both had just finished reading the same novel and agreed it wasn’t the author’s finest work. Slightly worse for wear, John went on to state that “it was that poor, I could do better.” Six months later the first of many drafts of Black Cockles was completed.
Inspired by excellent reviews, the sequel, Nine Lives was published in April 2012.
